The Line Is Always Longer at the Shop Selling Excuses

My 70-year-old client carried a screaming 28-pound toddler under one arm and pushed a stroller with the other. Up a hill. This is what strength training is really for - because most decline isn't age, it's lifestyle.

Yesterday, my 70-year-old client told me she has been helping her daughter through the final month of pregnancy. At one point, she had a screaming, completely unreasonable 28-pound toddler and a stroller to manage. So she tucked the toddler under one arm like a football and pushed the stroller with the other hand.Up a hill.At 70 years old. This is what strength training is really for. Most people don't lose their health simply because they get older."I'm stiff because I'm older.""I'm tired because I'm older.""My body just can't do what it used to."Age plays a role, but decline isn't guaranteed. Most often, it's the cumulative result of lifestyle choices or failing to acknowledge and adapt to your body's evolving chemistry. The food you eat today versus what you ate 20 years ago.The way you move, or don't.The stress you carry. The sleep you protect.Bad luck also plays a role. I know people who made good choices but were still hit with an irreversible disease or condition. Lifestyle does not control everything. But generally, your lifestyle has an enormous influence on how well you live those years. The line is always longer at the shop selling excuses. But the door to change is wide open.Which line are you standing in?Reach out direct at 203.907.8902 if you need a 1:1 human coach or visit GetUpEarlier.com for more info.
