Wraps Are Fake Health Food

Wraps are packaged and sold as the better option to bread. The truth is they're highly processed calorie bombs. The wrap at Jersey Mike's Subs is 310 calories before they put a single thing in it.

Uncovered a hidden source of calories with a client in our weekly session. Going through his diet, he kept mentioning "wraps." Here's the thing: wraps are fake health food, packaged and sold as the better option to bread. The truth is they're highly processed calorie bombs. The wrap at Jersey Mike's Subs is 310 calories before they put a single thing in it. A lot of people don't want to let go of sandwiches. Good news: you don't have to. Take a look at Bread Alone's Peasant bread (I grab it at Whole Foods in Milford, CT): 90 calories a slice. Ingredients: organic wheat flour, filtered water, salt, yeast. That's it. ![Bread Alone Certified Organic Peasant bread](/attached_assets/bread-alone-peasant-bag_1783936243322.jpg) ![Bread Alone Peasant bread ingredients label](/attached_assets/bread-alone-peasant-ingredients_1783936243323.jpg) My go-to: toast one slice, cut it in half, add pulled rotisserie chicken, a little mayo, shredded lettuce, hot peppers, and pickles. A real-deal sandwich for around 300 calories. Less than the wrap alone! ![Pulled rotisserie chicken on a cutting board](/attached_assets/pulled-rotisserie-chicken_1783936243323.png)
