Client Spotlight: Marisol, 55 Years Young
By Michael Baker · August 31, 2026
At 55, Marisol is stronger, moving better, and continuing to progress through 30-minute strength sessions twice a week. She has also lost 35 pounds.
> “Let us not forget the 35-pound weight loss, having come to you after a surgery, then having recovered with you from another injury and still moving forward, strong and smart. This is what I love about training with you. IT WORKS!” She trains with me for just 30 minutes, twice a week. Over time we have progressed through air squats, barbell squats, hex bar deadlifts, dumbbell presses, barbell presses, pulling movements, pushups, select functional trainer exercises, yoga-inspired core work and stretching. The workouts change based on where she is, what her body needs, and what we are trying to accomplish, but we stick to a general two-day outline using traditional compound movements: upper body with chest, shoulders, back and core, using presses, power movements and bodyweight work on one day, then lower body and arms on the other. The goal isn't to destroy someone for 30 minutes. The goal is to make them stronger. At 55, Marisol is lifting weights, squatting, moving better and continuing to make progress. She has also lost 35 pounds. But I think her words “strong and smart” are probably the best description of what we are trying to accomplish. I provide 1-on-1 strength training and nutrition coaching every weekday from 5:30 AM to 10:00 AM at my in-home studio in Orange, CT, primarily working with people from Orange, Woodbridge, Bethany and Milford.
