An Active Vacation at the Omni Hilton Head: One Indulgence, Not All of Them

Seven straight days of hot-as-hell sunny weather at the Omni Hilton Head Oceanfront Resort. Beach runs, some strength training, real beers every day, and one $32 margarita. Here's how I kept it from turning into a free-for-all.
Just had a very active vacation at the Omni Hilton Head Oceanfront Resort. Seven straight days of hot-as-hell sunny weather. Total blessing. Getting up before sunrise wasn't an option, so I ran on the beach 5 of the 7 days, much later than my normal time and for much shorter distances. The heat wasn't going to allow a long run, so I adapted instead of forcing it. I strength trained a couple of times, nothing too intense, and spent the rest of the trip constantly on the move with my fam. I had at least 3 real beers every single day. Some days, double that. I also had a few margaritas. One "top-shelf" one cost me $32 and was the best I ever had. For real, it was insane. But here's what I didn't do personally: - No overeating. - Minimal junk food. - No fries or fried food. - No entrees after apps. - No giant frozen pool drinks. I picked one indulgence and stuck with it and I STILL got a little fat. At almost 52, you just can't do it all anymore. You don't have to be perfect on vacation. You just have to avoid letting one indulgence turn into all of them and coming home feeling like shit and losing your progress.
