Audiobook Chapter 3: Concepts of Running Training | ISSA Running Coach Course #ISSA #Run #audiobook
I LOVED the ISSA Running Coach course, but one downside was that it was entirely in PDF format and required reading. Since I prefer learning on the go, I converted this important chapter into an audiobook. Keep in mind, some of the words, graphs and charts may sound a bit off, so you’ll need to follow along in those sections. I listened to this specific module at least 5x!
My key takeaway for both casual running and marathon training is this:
To run fast, runners must dedicate significant time to running slow. This time spent on foot is crucial for building endurance and the ability to run longer distances.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
1 | Describe why running training must have specificity to be effective.
2 | Name and explain the six components of running training that can be addressed in a training protocol.
3 | Define training periodization.
4 | Describe the three training cycles and types of training loads.
5 | Explain the concept of recovery from activity and describe common recovery strategies for runners.
