At Michael Baker Wellness, we view physical activity as an absolute necessity. Any way you choose to move your body is physical activity, and it’s essential to listen to what your body needs and choose movement that feels authentic, joyful, and supportive for you. It’s also important to know that putting your body in motion is a powerful act that benefits more than your muscles. Movement gets energy flowing, reduces stress, boosts mood, and can even sharpen your ability to focus.

Prioritizing physical activity is an act of self-love and self-care. By carving out time to move your body, you’re giving yourself the gift of energy, focus, and strength. Physical activity is bio-individual. You can create more space for movement in a way that feels natural, authentic, and enjoyable and adds to your overall quality of life. Your approach can be whatever works for you and will change and evolve over time.

Hello, I’m Michael Baker. As a 49-year-old strength trainer, certified yoga teacher, former yoga studio owner, and certified health coach with over 30 years of experience in training, practicing, learning, and teaching, I am passionate about guiding you in identifying and performing customized exercises, diet, and lifestyle modifications that align with your goals and current condition. Together, we'll maximize performance, reduce stress, and activate your muscles. Let's get your body back in business. It's been on idle too long.

As an experienced and certified personal trainer, I am committed to providing personalized fitness programs tailored to your unique needs. Whether you're looking to lose weight, build strength, or improve your overall health, I am here to support you every step of the way.

I believe in "lifting heavy things" with high intensity at least two times per week. This includes compound heavy lifts, targeted weight lifts, body-weight strength training (calisthenics), and physical outdoor work. However, I see many overweight people jumping into brutal workouts expecting to lose weight from the workouts alone. This is untrue. No amount of training can overcome poor diet choices. You can't outrun a poor diet! I will help guide you through both the physical work and dietary considerations.

Understanding intensity is crucial. There is nothing like the feeling of an intense strength session; it invigorates systems that have gone dim or dormant in many people. Muscle memory is real, and I brought mine back from the dead.

I offer both one-on-one personal training and small group classes to accommodate everyone's preferences and budget. My training sessions are 30 minutes of uninterrupted, targeted exercises designed to maximize results. Before starting a training program, I provide a FREE 30-minute one-on-one session to help you clarify your goals and determine the proper steps to achieve them. All training programs include individualized workout plans and nutritional guidance, with additional nutritional counseling and meal plans available.

In addition to in-person training, I ensure all of my clients learn how to work out on their own, empowering them with the knowledge and skills to maintain their fitness independently. I'm here to help you break free from your gym rut or advance your fitness. You need a push in the right direction. Accountability is key. There's a reason why I'm almost 50 lifting 100lb dumbbells, running a marathon, and have the flexibility to touch my palms to the floor with straight legs: I modified my life to make nutrition, fitness, strength, stress management, and flexibility part of my day-to-day. This is non-negotiable and the main takeaway for my clients.

Having someone with experience to rely on through your journey back to health can make all the difference. I hope to be your guide to maintaining lean muscle mass and flexibility as you grow older on your own with minimal equipment. One or two 30-minute sessions per week will change your life. You will be amazed by how much we can accomplish in this short time, how quickly your strength improves, and how much you gain as you navigate life.
