Air Squats with a STICK? - Shoulder mobility, fresh air, cardio - Mike's Training Log 2/23 #Strength

I filmed a demo of grabbing a stick for proper squat alignment. Doing squats with a broomstick, tree branch or any available light prop can aid in maintaining correct form. Often, there's a tendency to bend too far forward; the emphasis should be on keeping the back more upright, the back of the legs from 90 degrees to parallel to the ground (based on individual ability), and then pushing back up vertically. The stick acts as a tool to teach and reinforce the correct posture and alignment, helping to address and prevent the common issue of forward leaning, especially useful for those with limited shoulder mobility which can hinder the ability to perform barbell squats effectively. It can also assist in rehab of limited shoulder mobility. By using the stick in various exercises and stretches, individuals can work on improving their range of motion, flexibility, and strength in the shoulders, which can contribute to better overall shoulder health and function. This is a log of my daily training. I am training for life or as Peter Attia @PeterAttiaMD calls it the "centenarian decathlon". Every day, working toward a goal of enhancing and maintaining strength, muscle mass, endurance, mobility and flexibility to be a kick-ass 85+ year old.Michael Bakere-RYT Male Yoga Teacher, CHCActively training for the Centenarian Decathlonwww.GetUpEarlier.com#Run #Lift #Hike #Yoga #Strength #Flexibility #Nutrition
